Treviso's Serie A stay was short-lived. In bottom place for nearly the entire 2005ā06 season, they were officially relegated to Serie B for the '06ā'07 campaign following a 3ā1 loss toĀ MessinaĀ on 9 April 2006. While it initially appeared that Treviso would avoid relegation despite finishing 20th as a result of forced relegations arising elsewhere as a consequence of theĀ Serie A match-fixing scandal, Treviso were eventually relegated to Serie B on 25 July 2006.
WhenĀ S.S. LazioĀ andĀ ACF Fiorentina's penalties were reduced by the Italian appeals court and those teams remained in Serie A. Back in Serie B Treviso started to face financial problems, with a net loss of ā¬4.17 million in the 2006ā07 season.
The club had re-capitalized for over ā¬7.5 million, but the net result was still ā¬1.32 million in the 2007ā08 season, with some notional selling profit forĀ Dino FavaĀ (who returned to Treviso for the same price, ā¬900,000) andĀ Massimo CodaĀ , as well as selling youth productĀ Jacopo FortunatoĀ andĀ Riccardo BocalonĀ for ā¬900,000 each in cash-plus-play deal.
